The role of expatriate Greek women

Greek expatriate women, who were honored on Wednesday in an event hosted for the second consecutive year by the Thessaloniki Prefecture in cooperation with World Council of Hellenes Abroad (SAE), had the opportunity to take a taste of the hospitality in Macedonia expressed by Minister of Macedonia-Thrace Stavros Kalafatis, Prefect Panagiotis Psomiadis and Mayor Vassilis Papageorgopoulos. Th women were also received by the President of the Council for Hellenes Abroad (SAE) at the organizations offices together with SAE's secretary, Dr. Olga Sarantopoulou.

 

The SAE president and secretary briefed the women about the organizations activities with the main scope being the promotion and dissemination of the Greek language and culture in their countries of residence, the networking of expatriate young adults and the generalized unity of Greeks around the world.

 

On their part, the expatriate women, reassured that they would do all in their power to voluntarily serve Ecumenical Hellenism.

As gifts, the honorees were given a replica of the first coin of the Greek state with the image of Macedonian King, Philip.
