Plane scare for Melbourne-Athens passengers

Passengers, including dozens of Greek-Australians, on an Emirates flight from Melbourne to Athens - with a stop in Dubai - lived through a nightmare when the plane collided on the runway. During take-off, the tail of the airbus EK407 flight, with 225 passengers, came into contact with the runway, causing a loud noise and smoke in the cabin. Some passengers reported seeing flames in the engine of the plane, which also destroyed airport lights and an antenna. Subsequently, it flew over Port Phillip Bay, jettisoned its fuel and returned to Melbourne airport, where it made a forced landing. The passengers were transported to hotels and arrangements were made for seats on other flights. Emirates has promised a probe into the incident.
