Greek notes at St. Irene’s

Singer Fotini Dara performed in a concert at the weekend at Constantinople's historic St. Irene's within the framework of events organized by the Greek community of Constantinople under the aegis of the Patriarchate. Dara performed songs that highlighted the traditional and contemporary art from of Greek music (entechno) with works by composers: Hatzidakis, Theodorakis and Dimitris Papadimitriou, many traditional songs and two very well known Turkish songs with have also been made into Greek by composer, Giorgos Kordellas. The singer was accompanied by the Orchestra of Contemporary Music and the ERT choir, under the direction of Andreas Pylarinos. The Art and Culture Festival of Constantinople comprises one of the longest and largest cultural institutions of Constantinople. It should be noted that this was the first time that the church was made available to the Greek community for the first time in its history for the presentation of an open to the public musical event.
