According to media reports, Interior Minister Prokopis Pavlopoulos is attempting to “tempt” the opposition to approve a draft bill concerning the expatriate Greek vote, which he is planning to re-table in parliament.
Yet another expatriate Greek has undertaken an important position in the US state of Illinois. Mariana Spyropoulos has been appointed to the board of the Metropolitan Region Commission which oversees the quality of Chicago’s water, following a decision by state governor Pat Quinn.
Twenty-one young expatriate Greeks from the United States and Germany have returned to their homes with the best impressions of Greece, after participating in a program of Greek Language and Culture for Epirot children abroad.
The 4th Anthology of Expatriate Greek Writers from Five Continents, funded by the Alexander Onassis Public Benefit Foundation has been published. It contains works by 42 Greek authors from all over the world, including numerous writers from the United States.
A branch of the Eleftherios Venizelos National Foundation for Research-Study will operate shortly in Montreal, Canada, according to an announcement by the foundation’s general manager, Nikolaos Papadakis during a visit to the headquarters in Hania by a delegation of the Cretan Association from Montreal.

Τα εξεταστικά κέντρα για ομογενείς υποψηφίους
Ανακοινώθηκαν από το υπουργείο Παιδείας τα Εξεταστικά Κέντρα για εισαγωγή στην Τριτοβάθμια Εκπαίδευση των υποψηφίων που υπάγονται στις ειδικές κατηγορίες των ομογενών μαθητών και των τέκνων Ελλήνων υπαλλήλων που υπηρετούν στο εξωτερικό.
Οι εξετάσεις στο μάθημα Γενικής Παιδείας και στα μαθήματα κατεύθυνσης θα διενεργηθούν σε τέσσερα εξεταστικά κέντρα στην Αθήνα και Θεσσαλονίκη από 7 μέχρι και 11 Σεπτεμβρίου. Ειδικότερα:
Α) Στην Αθήνα και συγκεκριμένα - στο Πειραματικό Γυμνάσιο και Πειραματικό Γενικό Λύκειο της Βαρβακείου Σχολής (Μουσών και Παπαδιαμάντη ΤΚ 15452 – Π.Ψυχικό τηλ.2106725413 και 2106718781), θα εξεταστούν οι υποψήφιοι των οποίων τα επώνυμα αρχίζουν από Α μέχρι και Λ. - στο 1ο ΓΕΛ Αμαρουσίου (Κηφισίας 213-Μαρούσι τηλ.2108020325), θα εξεταστούν οι υποψήφιοι των οποίων τα επώνυμα αρχίζουν από Μ μέχρι και Ω.
Β) Στη Θεσσαλονίκη και συγκεκριμένα
- στο 3Ο Γενικό Λύκειο Θεσσαλονίκης (Αποστόλου Παύλου 28, ΤΚ 54634- Θεσσαλονίκη-τηλ.2310209987, Φαξ 2310968217), θα εξεταστούν οι υποψήφιοι των οποίων τα επώνυμα αρχίζουν από Α μέχρι και Λ. - στο 1ο ΕΠΑΛ Καλαμαριάς (Καραμανλή και Μακεδονίας ΤΚ 55132-Καλαμαριά τηλ.2310480114-2310480112, Φαξ 2310475286), θα εξεταστούν οι υποψήφιοι των οποίων τα επώνυμα αρχίζουν από Μ μέχρι και Ω.
