Greek cinema in Cairo

The Greek Cultural Foundation is organising a festival of contemporary Greek cinema in Alexandria, Egypt, from February 8 to the end of the month. For the first time, Egyptian audiences will be able to view a broad variety of subjects from the recent Greek film production, including the life of Alexandrian poet Constantine Kavafy, nostalgia about lost childhood years ("Peppermint") and growing up in Constantinople ("Political Cuisine").
Six movies will be shown up to February 13 at the Cairo Opera, followed by film screenings at the Cairo Art Academy's Cinema School and in the town of Damanhur on the occasion of the inauguration of the Susan Mubarak Library. The festival will close with screenings at Alexandria's Culture Mansion in the first week of March.
