2008 marks the 180 year anniversary since Ioannis Kapodistrias was sworn-in as the first Governor of the free Greek State.
On Sunday, January 28th, the day of his swearing-in, a series of events
will be held on the island in his honor, among them, a wreath-laying
ceremony at his statue, a tour of the Kapodistrian buildings, a speech
by professor Maro Karadimitri-Adami entitled “Aigina during the
Kapodistrian period and a screening of director Christos Siopaha’s film
