US President George W. Bush sent condolences to the Greek people yesterday for the death of the leader of the Greek Orthodox Church. Writing for himself and his wife, Laura, Bush said the archbishop was known as «an articulate voice of the Orthodox faith, for his engagement in inter-religious dialogue and for his promotion of social programs to help the vulnerable". On his part, the Foreign Undersecretary for Greeks Living Abroad, Theodoros Kassimis, noted that Archbishop Christodoulos had selflessly served Orthodoxy and the Greek nation.Meanwhile, in a letter to the Church of Greece, the president of the Council for Hellenes Abroad (CHA), Stephanos Tamvakis, has expressed "sincere feelings of grief and sorry" on behalf of the CHA presidium and Greeks all over the world, for the death of Archbishop Christodoulos.
