|Greek ambassador writes in “Mediterranean Quarterly”|
|Γράφει ο/η Μπάμπης Παπαδάκης|
The first 2008 edition of the of the political review, "Mediterranean Quarterly", features an article by the Greek ambassador in Washington, Alexandros Mallias. The review is published every three months by the Duke University publishing house.
In the article - entitled "The Balkans: in an era of peace and stability" - Mallias notes Greece's impressive economic presence in the region, stressing that peace and stability in the Balkans have a direct impact on our country. The Greek ambassador also points out that good neighbour relations and settlement of problems through consensual solutions are basic requirements for participation in an alliance.
Regarding Greek positions in relation to the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Mallias has underlined that it is not a sentimental issue, but a political matter, with an international character, as propaganda has been promoted against Greece with maps and texts presenting Macedonia as occupied territory.
