The solidarity of the Greek American community to the victims of the recent wildfires in Greece was expressed by AHEPA (American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association).

Nicholas A. Karacostas, supreme president of the American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association (AHEPA), issued the following statement on the fires that have been raging in the northern suburbs of Athens, Greece: “Our thoughts and prayers are with the thousands of residents of small towns and villages in the northern suburbs of Athens affected by the spread of these fires. “We commend the heroic efforts of first-responders who are battling the fires, and we are appreciative of the assistance provided by other European Union countries, such as Cyprus, Italy, and France; and the help offered by Turkey, to combat the fires.

“We have been in contact with the Embassy of the Hellenic Republic in Washington, and we have made the resources of AHEPA available should it be required.”
