A circular released by the Turkish education ministry has removed powers and responsibilities previously held by mandatory Turkish deputy headmasters appointed to private schools set up by minority ethnic groups, relative to their own ethnic minority headmaster.

γιόρτασε τα 189 χρόνια από την Απελευθέρωση της Καλαμάτας, στις 21 Μαρτίου 2010, τιμώντας τον Χρήστο Τομαρά για τις υπηρεσίες του στην Ελληνο-Αμερικανική Κοινότητα
Η Μεσσηνιακή Ένωση του Σικάγο «Νέο Κύμα» γιόρτασε τα 189 χρόνια από την Απελευθέρωση της Καλαμάτας, στις 21 Μαρτίου 2010, τιμώντας τον Χρήστο Τομαρά για τις υπηρεσίες του στην Ελληνο-Αμερικανική Κοινότητα.Ο Πρόεδρος του «Νέου Κύματος», κ. Τομ Σωτηρόπουλος απένειμε, για πρώτη φορά στην ιστορία της Ένωσης, την αναμνηστική πλακέτα του «Διακεκριμένου Έλληνα» στον κ. Τομαρά. Ο κ. Τομαράς μίλησε για την σημασία που είχαν οι Μεσσηνιακές Οργανώσεις στην (εθνική και διεθνή) ανάμειξή του με την Ελληνο-Αμερικανική Κοινότητα και συνακόλουθη τοποθέτησή του ως Αντιπροέδρου του Συμβουλίου Απόδημου Ελληνισμού, αρμόδιου για την Ομογένεια της Βορείου και Νοτίου Αμερικής. Στα πλαίσια αυτά, τόνισε, συστήθηκε η «Μεσσηνιακή Αμφικτυονία», μια οντότητα που συνδέει τους απανταχού Μεσσήνιους μεταξύ τους αλλά και με την ίδια τη Μεσσηνία.Σημειώνεται ότι το «Νέο Κύμα»ιδρύθηκε το 1969 από απόδημους Μεσσήνιους και αποτελεί μια από τις μεγαλύτερες ενώσεις της Παν-Μεσσηνιακής Ομοσπονδίας Αμερικής και Καναδά
