The procedure for election of a new board of directors for the World Council of Cretans took place in Rethymno, Crete, following the successful tenure of the previous board, under the presidency of the federation of the US, headed by president, Stavros Simantiras. 

The results of the August 9^th elections handed over the presidency to the federation of Europe, headed by president, Giorgos Aerakis, vice-president, Giannis Epitropakis, general secretary, Emmanouil Kougioumtzi and treasurer, Dr. Argyris Parasyris-Bauer. 

The remaining positions are as follows: Giannis Nathenas, vice-president from the Cretan Federation of the US, Manolis Paterakis, vice-president of the Pan-Hellenic Federation of Cretan societies, Antonis Tsourdalakis, vie-president from the Federation of Australia, Ioanna Pantelakis, from the Pan-Hellenic Federation of Cretan societies, and Hara Kourtikakis, head of press and public relations.
