J. Dassin’s donations to philanthropy

A portion of the estate of the late director and husband of the unforgettable Melina Mercouri, Jules Dassin, has been bequeathed to post graduate students and to the Doctors Without Borders Organization. According to the will, the sum of 500 thousand euros will be allocated for scholarships and 100 thousand euros will be donated to the humanitarian organization.

Dassin bequeathed the 500 thousand euros to the “Melina-Mercouri-Jules Dassin Foundation” for post graduate students of History, Literature, Archaeology and Anthropology. The 100 thousand euros were bequeathed to the Athens branch of the Doctors Without Borders.

Dassin’s theatrical and movie books were donated to the Theatre Museum while a piece of popular art was donated to the Benaki Museum while her real estate property remains in the possession of his daughters.
