Events for the September 14th Day of National Memory for the Genocide of Greeks in Asia Minor by the Turkish state will take place from Septmeber 14-22, under the aegis of the Athens Prefecture.
Similar events are also being organized by the Prefecture of Thessaloniki on September 14th. The Athens memorial events include, among others, a Divine Liturgy on Sunday September 14th, and a wreath laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier by representatives of the country’s political leadership and from omogeneia associations and organizations. The events in Athens conclude on September 22nd with cultural events, music and dances to be performed by cultural groups of the Associations of the Federation of refugee Groups of Greece at the “Dora Stratou Theatre”.
