Greeks in Australia are among well-known personalities and celebrities in that country as 2007 draws to a close.
According to
“The Weekend Australian Magazine”, this year, one of Australia’s
leading figures was Greek-Australian director and film producer George
Miller (Giorgos Miliotis), who won his second Oscar last February –
this time for the animated movie, “Happy Feet”. Other well known personalities include Dr. John Papandriopoulos, telecommunications researcher at Melbourne University, who won the Dean’s prize this year for new broadband technology and was invited to the United States to present his project there. The magazine also mentions chef George Kalobaris, who created the Greek restaurant, Press Club, in Melbourne and was voted Chef of the Year.
