“Crete” on the table

An event promoting the benefit of Cretan cuisine was held successfully on February 16th at "Minoa" restaurant in Munich, Germany. The event was aimed at highlighting the high quality of Cretan products and their importance on human health in order for the products to become more well known in Bavaria for their exquisite quality and to generate further demand for Cretan products by German consumers.


Over 90 people related to the industry (importers, large hotel chains, delicatessens, dieticians, journalists from gourmet magazines etc) attended the event. Among the guests were Mr. Hippe, director of the METRO food chain, Mr. Gehard, from the BASIC food chain and Mr. Hanselmann, director of the Hilton hotel.


During the various species, the speakers stressed the internationally recognized contribution of the Mediterranean diet and particularly the Cretan diet in the prevention of diseases.


Many characteristic Cretan specialties followed during the dinner, with special focus of course on Cretan olive oil, olives, wine, pasta etc. At the end of the evening, guest were given a special bag containing informative brochures and samples of products that had been sent by the companies of the Cretan Exporters Association.
