France’s President Nicolas Sarkozy awarded French scientist Joseph Sifakis, laureate of the 2007 Turing Award, with the Grand Officier de l’Ordre national du Merite medal, at a ceremony at the Elysee Palace in Paris on September 30.
SAE President Stefanos Tamvakis attended the 1st Meeting of Europeans Residing Outside Their Country of Origin held in Paris on September 30 within the framework of the French EU Presidency, accepting an invitation by Foreign Minister of France Bernard Koushner and the Assembly of French Nationals Living Abroad (AFE), a SAE counterpart organization.
Author Kiki Dimoula will make a literary presentation on October 7, 2008 at the Literary Workshop in Berlin in an event organized by the Hellenic Cultural Foundation on the occasion of the recently HFC sponsored edition «Plötzlich wurde ich hellhörig: Gedichte und ein ‘Mythos’» of the Greek poet Kiki Dimoula within the framework of the promotion and dissemination of the Greek literature abroad.
The exhibition ‘Tribute to the Greek Resistance, 1940-1944’ opened on October 1st in Paris at the Memorial Leclerc - Museum Jean Moulin in Paris in a presentation running to November 2 2008.
The Hellenic Foundation for Culture begins its educational and cultural activities in Romania with the large exhibition of Byzantine and Post-Byzantine icons “From the Incarnation of Logos to the Theosis of Man” at the National Museum of Art.

Από το γάλλο πρόεδρο Νικολά Σαρκοζί βραβεύτηκε χθες ο ερευνητής Ιωσήφ Σηφάκης.Στον Ι. Σηφάκη είχε απονεμηθεί το βραβείο «Turing 2007», που είναι ισάξιο με το Νόμπελ στον τομέα της Πληροφορικής.
