39 year old Giannis Siokas was elected as the new president of the Greek community of Alexandria in Egypt. Immediately following his election, Siokas was congratulated by the two honorary presidents of the community, which are the serving Consul General in Alexandria, Giorgos Diakofotakis and the President of the Council for Hellenes Abroad (SAE), Stefanos Tamvakis.

The proceedings of the Congress of the Federations of Communities of Europe hosted by the Federation of Greek Communities in Brussels on April 24-26 were completed in a positive climate. The meeting was attended by all the Federations in Europe, while a message was sent by Ireland that was not represented.
