Ransom for Lerounis
Συντάχθηκε απο τον/την Μπάμπης Παπαδάκης
Greek teacher and member of the non-governmental organisation “Greek Volunteers”, Thanasis Lerounis, 55, is reportedly in the hands of the Taliban, after being abducted earlier this month when he was working with the Kalas tribe in Pakistan. According to reliable sources, the Taliban is demanding a ransom of $2 million for his release, as well as the release from jail of three high-ranking Taliban. Alternatively, they demand that he converts to the Islamist religion.
The Kalas tribe, which is shocked by the teacher’s kidnapping, has said it is willing to sell off its assets in order to pay the ransom and has threatened – in a move to pressure the government – to emigrate en masse to another country if it receives no assistance.
