Συντάχθηκε απο τον/την Μπάμπης Παπαδάκης
The "History Lost" multimedia exhibition on illicit antiquities trade and its impact on society and culture officially opened at the European Parliament in Brussels on Feb. 10, hosted by the Hellenic Foundation for Culture, with the support of the chairperson of the Europarliament's committee on culture and education, Katerina Batzeli. The exhibit was inaugurated by Mrs. Batzeli and professor, George Babiniotis
The exhibition, to be held at the EP's Yehudi Menuhin Hall on Feb. 9-13, will feature copies of finds that have been returned recently to Greece and Cyprus, following relevant requests and has already been presented in Trieste, Lisbon and Dublin. In statements made to ERA 5 radio, Mrs. Batzeli underlined the importance of streamlining an effective strategic coordination of national and European efforts against the illicit antiquities trade making it a political priority in the European Union. She underlined that this illicit trade is an insult to cultures and peoples, a crime associated with other forms of organized crime such as terrorism and drug trafficking. Cooperation she noted, with UNESCO, for a strategic coordination against this phenomenon must be a political priority of the EU. Historical values comprise values of future generations which must not be denied from today's youth, she highlighted.
