Greek art exhibit at Sotheby’s

Tourism Development Minister Costas Markopoulos inaugurated an exhibition with works by 16 noted Greek artists on Tuesday night the Exhibition "Greek Color" at Sotheby's auction house in London.

 

The event was attended by a large number of distinguished personalities, Greek and foreign that reside in London. "The best promotion of our country besides culture, antiquity and democracy, is contemporary art. It is the efforts of young people, a new spirit the light of Greece" stated Markopoulos in his brief address.

 

The Tourism Development Minister met with tour operators with the aim of strengthening Greece's tourism product, particularly in the British market.

 

"The global economic crisis and the differentiating tourism trends leave no leeway for complacency in our country. The necessary actions for the protection of Greek tourism have been mapped out" stated Markopoulos characteristically. Mr. Markopoulos has departed for Idaho in the US wher he will represent the government at the closing ceremonies of the Special Olympics.
