“The European prospect of Turkey revitalizes our hopes for a better tomorrow” stated Ecumenical Patriarch, Vartholomaios, during his address to worshippers in Kilkis.
The Patriarch noted that there was no solid evidence at this point of
anything in particular as he numbered the various problems and issues
facing the Patriarchate, including the properties of the local
residents and churches and the reopening of the Theological School of
Halki, despite the new Vakoufs legislation. The Ecumenical Patriarch expressed the hope that Europe will continue to remind Turkey of its obligation to respect minority rights, particularly religious freedoms and human rights.
