A number of events are taking place in Australia to celebrate the March 25th Greek Independence Day, organised by Australian municipalities, while many articles are appearing in Australian newspapers referring to the Greek national uprising of 1821.

On Tuesday, the anniversary was celebrated in the Burwood Municipality, while last Saturday, there were celebrations in Parramatta. Both belong to the broader Sydney area.

Meanwhile, the Archdiocese of Australia celebrated 15 days ago in the courtyard of the Sydney Opera House. The Greek Embassy in Canberra marked the event with a ceremony, while the General Consulate in Sydney has organised an event for today. In Melbourne, the Greek national holiday was celebrated in Prahran, with the raising of the flag and a relative event, as well as in Mornington and Rye.
