On the occasion of the March 25 Greek Independence Day anniversary message addressed by Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper, Canadian Hellenic Congress President Demetris Manolakos issued an appeal to the Canadian leader to reject FYROM’s NATO membership until Greece and FYROM reach an agreement on a mutually acceptable name. In a letter to the prime minister of Canada, the Canadian Hellenic Congress president points out that the Greeks coming from the historical province of Macedonia and all the Canadian citizens of Greek origin will not accept a name for FYROM that will include the term Macedonia.
