Ambassador M. Christidis, as the special envoy of Foreign Minister Dora Bakoyanni, is scheduled to conclude today a tour of Latin America, with a visit to Santiago, Chile.
The aim of the
tour was to brief the leadership of the foreign ministries of those
countries about the progress of negotiations within the context of the
United Nations on a final name for the Former Yugoslav Republic of
Macedonia. During the meetings, the Greek side informed ministry officials about the constructive stance it is taking for the negotiations, as well as the tactics utilized by the FYROM government to distract the discussions and hamper the progress of talks. The countries visited by Mr. Christidis had diplomatic relations with FYROM using its so-called constitutional name, “Macedonia”.
