A three-page article devoted

largest financial newspaper, The Australian Financial Review.
Ambassador David Ritchie, the new Australian special envoy for the Cyprus issue will visit Athens on September 8th. According to announcement by the Australian Embassy in Athens, Mr. Ritchie will continue the work of Honorable Jim Short, the previous special envoy during the period 2000-2007.

New York Life Insurance Company
announced an outreach program to locate and compensate heirs of approximately
1,000 life insurance policies issued to Greeks in the Ottoman Empire
prior to 1915. As part of the Greek Life Insurance Policy Program, New
York Life will publish notices in national and international newspapers
about the claims review process so that heirs can submit claims relating
to these policies.
Thessaloniki prefect, Panayiotis Psomiades will host a reception for 350 omogenia college students of the Greek language this evening at the Prefectures gardens.

Following an official invitation by the organizing committee of the Republican Party, the Archbishop of America, Demetrios, will by in Minneapolis, Minnesota today, September 4th where he will inaugurate the opening of the day’s activities at 6.30pm local time. Archbishop Demetrios had also been invited to launch the opening activities of the Democartic Party conference on August 27th that took place in Denver, Colorado.

Euripides’ ''Bacchae'' U.S. Tour

In an effort to promote Greek culture beyond the borders of the Atlantic, the Council for Hellenes Abroad (SAE) has decided to sponsor the presentation of Euripdes’ Bacchae according to announcement by the president of SAE America, Theodoros Spyropoulos, in a tour of 17 US states.

A Greek-Australian journalist was arrested and is being held in custody by the Thai authorities.
