    In keeping with its long tradition, the Greek Orthodox Community of South Australia, in cooperation with the Leonidas Pallakoniko Association, has invited all Greek-Australians to honour with their presence Polytechnic Day, on Tuesday, November 17, at 7.30pm at the Olympic Hall, 288 Franklin Street, Adelaide.

    Australian MPs of Greek origin met in the West Australian parliament in Perth recently, within the framework of the annual meeting of the World Hellenic Inter-Parliamentary Association (WHIΡA), Oceania Region. The Greek-Australian lawmakers decided to raise public awareness in relation to the return of Parthenon marbles to Greece from the British Museum, according to the WHIPA president and state MP for Victoria, Giannis Pantazopoulos.

    An exhibit with works of artists from Greece, Romania, Serbia, Albania and Bulgaria will in an exhibit organized by the Melenia Art Gallery, the Cotroceni National Museum and the Romanian branch of Alpha Bank on November 19th in Bucharest. The exhibit will run until January 15, 2010 at the National Cotroceni Museum in Bucharest.

    A new novel by author Ioustini Gragouli-Argyri titled “For the love of others” (Psyhogios publications) was recently presented in Athens’ King George Palace Hotel. Present at the event were, from New York, her son of the book heroine, John Katsimatides, a high profile member of the Greek-American community, together with his wife Margo and their son, John.

    Two Greek Films are being showcased in Washington within the framework of the 22nd European Union Film Showcase organized by the European Union with the screening of films from all EU members states.   The films are: “Athens-Constatinople” by Nikos Panayiotopoulos to be screened today, November 12th and “Small Crime” by Christos Georgiou to be screened on Sunday November 22nd and Tuesday, November 24th. The screenings will take place at the AFI Silver Theatre and Cultural Cenetr 8633 Colesville Road, Silver Springs, Maryland.

Ελληνικές ταινίες ταξιδεύουν στην Ουάσινγκτον.

Δύο ελληνικές ταινίες προβάλλονται στην Ουάσινγκτον στο πλαίσιο του 22ου Φεστιβάλ κινηματογράφου που διοργανώνεται από την Ευρωπαϊκή ‘Ενωση με την προβολή ταινιών από όλα τα κράτη – μέλη της Ε.Ε
(22ND EUROPEAN UNION FILM SHOWCASE)

Πρόκειται για τις ταινίες : «Αθήνα – Κωνσταντινούπολη» του Νίκου Παναγιωτόπουλου, που Θα προβληθεί την Πέμπτη 12 Νοεμβρίου,  και «Μικρό έγκλημα» του Χρήστου Γεωργίου (φωτογραφία) που θα προβληθεί την Κυριακή 22 και την Τρίτη 24 Νοεμβρίου. At the AFI Silver Theatre and Cultural Center 8633 Colesville Road, Silver Spring, MD 20910.
