According to the Australian and the Greek-Australian press, the Australian government - through its ambassador in Athens - will request a meeting with the Hellenic Red Cross, in order to be briefed about the use of $A3 million in Australian aid for the fire victims of last summer's wildfires in the Peloponnese. In an extensive electronic article, the Melbourne-based daily newspaper, the "Herald-Sun" wrote that there had been outrage in Greece after it was revealed that $1 million, offered by the Australian government to people whose livelihoods had gone up in smoke, was being used to build a new municipal building in Zaharo, instead of going to those who most needed the money.
