Damage to Greek community centre in Santiago from quake in Chile
Σύνταξη/επιμέλεια από τον/την Θεόφιλος Δουμάνης

Santiago - The Greek community centre in Santiago has sustained serious damage from the strong 8.8-Richter earthquake that hit Chile in the morning of February 27.

The extent of the damage to the neoclassical building – which dates back to 1876 and has been classified as heritage by the city municipality – makes it impossible to hold any events, such as the start of the school year and the smooth attendance of Greek language classes, according to an announcement issued by the World Council of Hellenes Abroad (SAE) Coordinator in Central/South America, Nikiforos Nikolaidis from Santiago.
