Photographs from Mount Athos by Swiss photographer Fred Boissonnas  are on display at the Hellenic Cultural Foundation in Berlin from January 17 to March 28. Fred Boissonnas (1858-1944) left his mark on photographic art in 20th century Greece. He aimed at creating and promoting positive images of Greece, and won complete recognition by successive Greek governments.

Entitled “Travels at Athos 1928-30”, the exhibition is the result of two trips he made to the monastic site in 1928 and 1930. In his photos, he has highlighted the architectural and natural features of Mount Athos, while depicting the special atmosphere of interior spaces, creating a type of tableau vivant of daily activities. The show was organized by EI, in collaboration with the Thessaloniki Museum of Photography and the Organisation for Promotion of Greek Culture.
