The promotion of Greek education and culture are among the top priorities of the SAE USA Region and within this framework the Region’s Education Committee in cooperation with the Federation of Greek-American Education and Cultural Associations in New York will undertake actions and organize a number of events among them a Greek Language Competition.

A symposium on Charter Schools of Greek interest: achievements, conclusions and prospects 10 years after the launch of their operation, will be held in Achimedes Academy in Miami in January 2009 in parallel with the federation’s general assembly meeting.
The SAE USA Region Education Committee and the federation will hold a joint meeting at the end of February to discuss issues concerning the Greek-speaking education, while special events will be held dedicated to Greek expatriate educators and the Greek Mother.
Following the success of this year’s event on the Greek language held at the Capitol Hill, the SAE USA Region will organize a two-day event on the Greek language to take place at the Capitol Hill in June 2009.
Meanwhile, Euripides’ “Bacchae” will be on tour in 17 American states between September 16 and October 25. The performance will be in Greek with English subtitles and will travel abroad to promote the Greek culture and theater.
The production is under the auspices of Greek government ministries (foreign affairs, tourism, transport, culture), the Cypriot Ministry of Education, the Municipality of Athens and UNESCO.
