Expatriate Greek vote for re-tabling in parliament

According to media reports, Interior Minister Prokopis Pavlopoulos is attempting to “tempt” the opposition to approve a draft bill concerning the expatriate Greek vote, which he is planning to re-table in parliament. Reportedly, Pavlopoulos will call on political parties to agree to increasing the number of party deputies for the State constituency from 12 to 15, so that the three additional seats will be available for expatriate Greek representatives. In this way, the new bill will oblige parties to place expatriate Greek candidates on the State ticket.
At the same time, the procedures for broadcasting electoral results will be updated, with messages being conveyed from prefectures to the Interior ministry through mobile phones, which will allow party percentages to be available just two hours after the polls close. This new system will be implemented in the next elections and is expected to influence the exit polls.
