SAE Oceania Games to be held in Darwin

The Australian Chief Minister of the Northern Territory, Paul Henderson, expressed the full support of the government for a decision by SAE Region Oceania to organize the 2011 Panhellenic Cultural and Sports Games in Darwin. Henderson had a meeting in the NT capital city with SAE Coordinator, George Angelopoulos and members of the Executive Committee of the institution at which the organisation of the games was discussed.

Επιρροή της ελληνικής κουζίνας στην Αυστραλία

Στην ελληνική κουζίνα και την επιρροή της στην Αυστραλία αναφέρεται δημοσίευμα της εφημερίδας The Sunday Mail.

Σύμφωνα με το δημοσίευμα, διαδικτυακή δημοσκόπηση του ειδησεογραφικού ομίλου News Ltd (συμφερόντων του κ. Μέρντοχ) σχετικά με το εθνικό πιάτο των Αυστραλών ανέδειξε το ψητό αρνί.

Το συγκεκριμένο πιάτο παραπέμπει στην ελληνική κουζίνα, η οποία είναι «απλή και υγιεινή και ταιριάζει τέλεια με το κλίμα μας και τον τρόπο ζωής μας».

Επισημαίνεται ότι μεγάλος αριθμός Ελλήνων μετανάστευσαν στην Αυστραλία στις δεκαετίες του ’50 και ’60, αλλά η επιρροή της κουζίνας τους στην Αυστραλία είναι περιορισμένη και σχετικά πρόσφατη. Σημειώνεται ότι η ελληνική κουζίνα είναι «μια από τις πιο υγιείς στον κόσμο» και προτείνονται παραδοσιακές ελληνικές συνταγές.
