Forty-three years after being written in Greek, the doctoral thesis of the Australian Archbishop, Stylianos, has now been translated and published in English. A presentation of the English version took place at a Greek church in Melbourne, in the presence of officials and many Greek-Australians.
With instructions from the Parliamentary Speaker Dimitris Sioufas, the secretary-general of parliament, Nikos Stefanou, accompanied by other officials, visited Cyprus for meetings with their Cypriot counterparts on September 8 and 9.
A disagreement between the two major parties, governing New Democracy and main opposition PASOK, is dashing hopes that the Diaspora vote will be ratified within 2008. The September 9th disagreement broke out during a meeting at the Greek Foreign Ministry chaired by foreign minister Dora Bakoyannis.

As expected, the dramatic developments last week in Australia's New South Wales state government cost Cypriot-Australian senator Michael Costas his ministerial post. However, Greek-Australian senator John Hatzistergos remained unscathed.
Now described as "one of the strongest cards in an otherwise fragile government", Hatzistergos has retained his post as Attorney-General in NSW's state ministry of Justice.
On the contrary, Costas lost the support of many friends, ministers and MPs, and is now without a government role, after being described by the new state premier, Nathan Rees, as "divisive and non-cooperative".
